“Where am I?” She groaned at the spinning ceiling. Without looking down, she knew she lay naked under the cocoon of a white quilt. Her body felt warm, even glowing, and she couldn’t think of any good reason to get out of bed.

A digital clock on the nightstand clicked to 2:56. She squinted. Could that be p.m.? Something, she jogged her fuzzy-headed memory, a ceremony was at three. The faint ring of a telephone resounded from another room.

She stretched and rolled against Janet, asleep and naked beside her.
